ALBUQUERQUE - Here is a set of photos showing the workers at the site where 13 bodies have been unearthed over more than a month long search southwest of Albuquerque. One of the most amazing places I have ever visited, I melted the soles off my hiking boots. This Volcano is a great example of what I love about Guatemala, there is no guard rail, no rules about how close you are allowed to get, if you get burned, it is all on you.

A few weeks ago I look a hike outside Xela, where we visited the sacred Mayan site of Laguna Chicabal. It's a it sits within the crater of a dormant volcano surrounded by a mystical cloud forest which refers to the thick fog that came rolling in out of nowhere. There is a steep stairway down to the lake's shore. Religious ceremonies are still performed along its shores.

Took a boat trip to cañón del Sumidero, which is about 60 km from where I am staying San Cristóbal de Las Casas in Mexico. Needless to say, an 85mm lens is less than ideal for wildlife photography.

Everything from the schools to most business shut down for the various fairs in Guatemala. I can't even get water pressure in the shower because of the fair in Xela, though I don't really understand why. Really no choice but to just enjoy it. The fair that is, not the trickle shower.

I used photoshop to merge five photos to make a panoramic at Lake Atitlan, its just too much to capture in a single frame. It's not perfect, and I like that about it, the flaws give it more character. The second photo is from the market in Chichicastenango, but it wasn't market day, so there was actually room to walk around. It's b&w because I didn't feel the color helped it much. Gotta love

I'm sipping black coffee at mi amigo Bryant's kitchen table. Its raining outside, you remember rain. Outside the door the patio overlooks a huge green canyon just below the backyard. Limes hang ripe in over abundant supply, to the point that we use them to play fetch with the dog. When the clouds break, you can see the volcano's in the distance.
